They beckon me, I come with them
to the far-far world past the blue.
"I will," my friends, "sail some day with thee
let time be right and I, carefree
bask droopy eyed and dream I will,
half smiling and turn sides lazily.
Today, O'friends!" I tell them oft,
"at duty's beck I must be.
I have to go and play my part
and walk the path life chose for me."
"We'll tread with you this path of care,
come sun or rain we'll be with thee,"
They sail along where I go,
keeping pace uncomplainingly.
"Thank God for thee! O'clouds my friends!"
I say, and they smile lovingly.
to the far-far world past the blue.
"I will," my friends, "sail some day with thee
let time be right and I, carefree
bask droopy eyed and dream I will,
half smiling and turn sides lazily.
Today, O'friends!" I tell them oft,
"at duty's beck I must be.
I have to go and play my part
and walk the path life chose for me."
"We'll tread with you this path of care,
come sun or rain we'll be with thee,"
They sail along where I go,
keeping pace uncomplainingly.
"Thank God for thee! O'clouds my friends!"
I say, and they smile lovingly.
